Another detailed book from the guru. Quite technical as you'd expect but surprisingly easy to read. It's almost worth reading just to be reading for recreation. It's on my coffee table at the moment so I just pick it up and read a random chapter. It's that good and interesting even if I never have to use it in anger.
Have given me a deeper understanding of Windows and gives me a great book to turn to when I need to figure out the cause of the problem and the best way to tackle it.
Extremely useful whether you are a sysadmin or developer. Really grok the internals of Windows by exploring them in a hands on manner.
I wish I had purchased this book much sooner. Russinovich not only explains how to use certain tools but he goes into somewhat of a primer on Windows internals such as how processes are created. I would say that this is an introduction to his Windows Internals books. Read this book before trying to get into any of the Windows Internals series as it might give you some visual context from the SysInternals tools when reading the much more advanced and in-depth books.
I had to give this book 5 stars even tho I really don't LOVE it as it is way over my expertise. Not for a computer novice.
Well worth it if you use Sysinternals
This book is loaded with good information. I bought to try to solve a problem occurring during a Windows 10 update. I found what I need, now I have to try to put it into practice. I am also looking forward to using other features in Sysinternals Tools now that I have a very good guide to get me started.
From what I have been able to read, I enjoyed the book.I purchased the ebook and would like to print out certain portions to make notes and use for troubleshooting but you can't save the book or print it. Why did I buy it if I can't print or save it! I hope to put the book to use but have not so far due to this limitation.
